Team kit requirements

Under UCI regulations, all riders participating in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships must wear their national kit. The specific regulation is below:

It is mandatory for a rider to wear their national kit at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Time Trial, Team Relay and Road Race. Although the official national jersey is not required, a jersey representing their country with a similar design and colors as the original national team jersey is required. Private or club sponsors are allowed to be featured on the national jersey.

National team jersey designs are often protected by national federations through contracts with jersey producers. These contracts typically include provisions that protect the design and its intellectual property rights. Riders who take part in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships are expected to respect these contracts and the protected design. This means they should not modify or alter the jersey design without the federation’s explicit permission, and they should not have such jerseys produced by a manufacturer who does not have the rights to do so.

GUIDELINES ON WHAT YOU CAN AND CAN’T WEAR

*For Australian Riders

AusCycling collaborated with Pedal Mafia to produce the official Team Australia kit. This was promoted to all qualified Australian riders, both before and after they registered for the event.

Orders for the Pedal Mafia kit have now closed, however you don’t need to worry – it’s not mandatory that you wear the AusCycling / Pedal Mafia kit.

We understand that the UCI regulations are quite confusing, so we have attempted to interpret them on your behalf.

Acceptable National Kit

  • The official Team Australia kit produced by Pedal Mafia. ORDERS NOW CLOSED, AND KIT IS IN PRODUCTION.
  • A national champions jersey that you have won at an AusCycling / Cycling Australia event in the past.
  • A jersey that features the Australian colours of green and gold, however does not replicate the AusCycling design. This garment must not include the AusCycling logo or the green and gold bands, as these assets are trademarked by AusCycling.

Unacceptable National Kit

  • Any design that features protected AusCycling elements – including the AusCycling logo and the green and gold bands.
  • Any kit featuring the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships logo, the UCI logo, or the UCI rainbow stripes.
