The Event:
How do I qualify?
You must finish in the top 25% of your age group in a UCI Gran Fondo World Series event.
Am I eligible to ride in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series event?
The UCI Gran Fondo World Series (former UCI World Cycling Tour) is a series of UCI-sanctioned races held all over the world. Some 25-30 qualifier events will qualify the top 25% in each age group to the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships where the champions are awarded with the coveted rainbow jersey.
Non-eligible riders:
Riders who are not eligible to race in UCI World Gran Fondo Series events;
- Any rider who has during the current year been a member of a team registered with the UCI.
- Any rider who has taken part in a World Championships, the Olympic Games, Continental games, regional games, the Commonwealth Games, or a World Cup during the current year.
- Any rider who scored UCI points in the year of the World Championships.
- Any rider that has scored UCI points in the past 12 months means that you cannot be officially ranked and qualified for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships and we will be remove you from official results.
I’ve qualified how do I register?
If you’ve successfully qualified, you will soon receive your invite to register for the 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

What are the age categories?
Age Groups: 19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+
(Age at 31 Dec 2025)
What is a gran fondo?
Loosely translating to ‘big long-distance ride’, a gran fondo is a mass-participation road event that promises a great day out for any rider.

Withdrawals / Refunds / Transfers
Withdrawing entry before Tuesday September 16th, 2025 (One month out from event day October 16th, 2025).
- If a withdrawal is made over email to [email protected] prior to this date for any reason, registration fees are refundable less a 25% administration fee deducted.
- From the 16th of September 2025 onwards, no refunds are available.
- No entry transfers are available.
Registration:
Do I need a UCI ID to race?
Yes, you will need to obtain a UCI ID to race. Riders who do not hold a valid UCI licence on race day will not be permitted to compete. The Event Organisers will validate all participant UCI IDs closer to event week.

How do I edit my registration?
Click here to access your Race Roster Participant Dashboard and edit your registration.
You will be able to update your UCI ID or National Federation Membership Number (e.g. Aus Cycling Number) until September 30th at 4pm.
What license do I need to race?
License: To participate in the World Championships, all riders must possess a valid annual license from a UCI affiliated national cycling federation (you can find the full list here). Please note that your license needs to contain a UCI ID (an 11 digits code)

Admitted types of licenses include:
- Amateur license
- Master license
- Cycling for All license
- Elite license with exception of:
- Any rider who has during the current year been a member of a UCI registered team.
- Any rider who has taken part in a World Championships, the Olympic Games, Continental Games, Regional Games, the Commonwealth Games, or a World Cup during the current year.
- Any rider who has scored UCI points in the year of the World Championships.

A Start List will be published during event week, once registrations have been finalised.

Uniform:
Uniform requirements for riders
All riders must wear a jersey which is representative of their nationality at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
How do I obtain an Australian National Jersey?

Are competitors expected to wear an Australian Skin Suit for the ITT?
No. Skin Suits are not required for the Time Trial, however all riders must wear a jersey which is representative of their nationality at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

Will there be bike mechanics and bike assembly at the event?
The Event Village in Lorne will feature bike mechanics. For bike assembly, please enquire to book assembly or disassembly with Hendry’s.
