Where is Lorne?

Lorne is located two hours southwest of Melbourne, on Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road. It’s the host town for the road race and time trial events of the 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

Airports & Transfers

Melbourne Airport (MEL): ~2 hrs to Lorne. Major international + domestic hub.

Avalon Airport (AVV): ~1 hr 15 mins to Lorne. Domestic flights only.

Airport Shuttle: Gull Airport Service runs between Melbourne Airport and Geelong.

Geelong to Lorne: Use McHarry’s Buslines to reach Lorne from Geelong.

Short 20–30 min drive to Lorne. Beautiful ocean views.
Apollo Bay & Kennett River
Scenic coastal towns with bus access.
Geelong & Torquay
Closer to the Team Relay. Best for hire car access.

While accommodation in Lorne can be limited, there are plenty of great places to stay nearby. Towns like Geelong (1 hr 7 min), Torquay/Jan Juc (50 min), Anglesea (30 min), Fairhaven (20 min), and Aireys Inlet (22 min) all offer convenient options within an easy drive of the road race start. Attending the Team Relay in Geelong?

The Team Relay is held 70 minutes from Lorne in Geelong. We recommend booking a car or staying locally the night before.
User-pays bus transfers will be available. Riders will be notified via email once bookings open.
